Hegemony Standard Time
HST exists to restore sovereignty over time. Time is a governed asset: preserved, protected, and procured. HST defines how we measure, log, and defend attention.
The Moment
HST replaces the 60-minute hour with 10 Moments per hour. 1 Moment = 6 minutes. The Day is fixed at 240 Moments.
The Moment is the smallest measurable unit of attention expenditure: the ledger grain, not the attention cycle.
Why ten
- Decimal efficiency: easier mental math, cleaner ledgers.
- Ledger resolution: six minutes is fine enough to audit any mode of attention.
- Command synchronization: ten ticks per hour simplifies operational tempo.
Thresholds in Moments
Flow entry is 3–4 Moments (18–24 min). A Pomodoro cycle is 5 Moments. A Deep Flow block is about 25 Moments.
The Watch
A Watch is one division of the Day. The standard split is Day ÷ 3: three Watches of 80 Moments each (Work, Life, Sleep). The Grace Shift is the overlap at each boundary (2–5 Moments). The waking Day is 2 Watches = 160 Moments.
Reading the dial
The dial at the top right shows the current Moment of the Day (1–240, Central Time), the time to the next mark, and the Stardate (1YYYYMMDD HHMM CT).
